This is an extensive system of tunnels located in the former Winchelsea Quarry. Used as an air raid shelter in WW2, they were constructed to form of four main corridors running parallel to one another. There was a total of six original entrances into these tunnels, four of which were within the quarry.

The quarry entrances are now used as workshops by the company which owns the tunnels and the other two entrances have been sealed.

I would like to thank the kind owners for allowing us permission into these tunnels including the parts now used as workshops!

Visited with kentunderground members Lynton, Ali23 and Nik24.

There are many different structures within the tunnels -

some parts looked very similar to the 1880 channel tunnel attempt.

There was also lots of graffiti carvings in the tunnel.
